Sheepdrove Organic Farm Wedding Photographer
When Gill & Liam first got in touch about Sheepdrove Organic Farm wedding photography they said ‘Our day is themed around wild flowers and meadows with rustic food and a live band’.
Straight away, that got me hooked.
Three elements, which I think describe a perfect wedding.
Beautiful surroundings, delicious eats and a great party.
Tick, tick, tick.
Then I took a look at the website for Sheeprove Organic Farm, as it wasn’t a venue I was familiar with.
What can I say, I think I’m in love!!
A Wedding Venue with sustainability at the centre of everything
So why do I love Sheepdrove Organic Farm so much, as a wedding photographer?
It’s in North Wessex (Thomas Hardy country), tucked away in the rolling hills of the Berkshire Downs, near to the historic village of Lambourn.
The farm itself has two thousand acres of pastures, ancient woodland and wildflower meadows. It’s got miles of hedgerows, native broadleaf woods and a lake with pontoon and boathouse.
Which gives you a stunningly beautiful location, that is also very close to the M4 and not that far from Reading and London.
They pride themselves on NOT being a conveyor-belt wedding venue and give you access from the day before to prepare. If you’re planning a relaxed wedding then this is brilliant as it means you can take you time setting up, rather than having to rush on the day.
Finally, this is a venue which is all about sustainability and conservation, subjects that are very close to my heart.
Their website has a whole section devoted to explaining the ongoing work they’re doing to make the farm as eco-friendly as possible.
But here are a few examples:-
- Two wind turbines and 900 solar panels of their own.
- Reed bed water purification system
- Ground source heat pump
- Soil association certified
I’d strongly recommend taking a look at their website to get the whole low down, but this section should have given you a flavour as to why I like it so much.

Gill & Liam’s day was full of so much job and personal touches.
Thinks like a homemade cake, handmade cushion for the rings to be put on, friends playing the music during the ceremony, the Bride’s brother-in-law’s band playing in the evening and many more.
Sheepdrove Farm has a couple of options for the ceremony and this one was in the stunning Oak Room with it’s high vaulted ceiling, almost cathedral-like!
There’s a south-facing courtyard which is a brilliant sun trap for a drinks reception. To entertain their guests they had music in the afternoon and later on a game I’ve never come across before, called Kubb. Apparently it’s Swedish game (you can buy it at Ikea!) and it involves having to knock down your opponents wooden block by throwing sticks at them.

With Liam hailing from Ireland there were quite a few guests who’d had to travel. So a coach was laid on to ferry them from their hotels.

“Thank you so much for these amazing photos. They really emanate the feel of the day. It has been a complete whirlwind of change in our lives since the wedding. So looking back at these photos already evokes real feelings of nostalgia”
