I love a wedding venue that is a bit different from the norm, a bit unexpected. Blue Piano Wedding Photography, in leafy Edgbaston, near Birmingham City Centre, definitely comes into that category. In a lovely Edwardian building it’s a bar & restaurant with rooms with courtyard garden at the rear.

A Wedding Venue in the heart of Edgbaston
The Blue Piano is rather deceptive, a bit like the Tardis! From the front, you see the gorgeous Edwardian frontage but wouldn’t know that inside it has various different rooms in the restaurant, a bar and pretty large courtyard garden at the back. It also has bedrooms upstairs and that’s where Catherine got ready. Before boarding a vintage double-decker for the short journey to St Augustine’s Church.
Catherine & Joe’s wedding was one of the many that gat delayed by covid and they even ended up changing venues. But they really lucked out with the change and it gave me a chance to experience Blue Piano Wedding Photography!
St Augustine’s Edgbaston, Birmingham Wedding Photography
In Church terms, St Augustine’s is a relatively modern church, built in 1868. It’s stunning inside and really light and airy. With the Bride on her way, Joe and the guests took their seats inside!
Then everyone jumped onto the bus to head back for the reception and some Blue Piano Wedding Photography! A vintage double decker bus is a great way to travel between the church and wedding reception as you get to be with all of your guests.
Blue Piano Wedding Reception
Catherine and Joe had a guy playing a steel drum outside in the courtyard and lots of the guests joined in! The music sounded great and the audience participation was amazing!
Then, after the food, dessert was from an ice cream van which they’d arranged to visit the Blue Piano! Who doesn’t like getting a 99 to eat on a hot day!
Speeches were outside in the courtyard too. Then it was time to party! Their band was under the cover to one side of the courtyard with the dancing out in the open.
